CLUB 12/68 GOLF COMPETITI0N ON 28 FEBRUARY 2018 AT AMVERTON COVE GOLF & ISLAND RESORT

 

As part of our 50th anniversary celebration we organised a golf competition. This was on 28 Feb 2018 at the Amverton Cove Golf & Island Resort. A resort about 40 km from KL on Carrie Island- close to Klang.
In all 12 participated. The Magnificent 12. Just like Templar’s Magnificent 12. Just to be sure everybody came, the Chairman Hashim Yahaya called almost everybody at 0500 hrs to jolt them out of slumber-land and head for Amverton. On the average a good one hour drive. Tee off was  planned for 0830 hrs, so the wheels need to roll latest 0700 hrs with half an hour grace for a quick breakfast and disposing the excesses, everybody was ready to tee off.. then off we went to the 3 tee boxes arranged for a Shotgun start.
 

 

It was initially a cool and misty morning.

Then as we proceeded, the heat tested us. It became warm – then hot. Still we plod on. Mind you some of us had not swung a golf club for ages. And of course, curses and cheers were heard – more curses though. We ended our game in one piece and proceeded for lunch at the club’s foyer.


Prize-giving followed. As explained earlier by the Golf Convenor the pool money would be won by the top two individuals, followed by a drawn partnership of top 5 with the bottom 5. It was the luck-of-the-draw really.
And the winners were:
Champion - Mohd Isa Hassan.

Ruuner-up - Rahman Jabir
 
Best Pair – Ismail Ahmad and John Hamzah.


2nd Best Pair – Sam and JohnRH

.3rd Best Pair – Apai and Musa Mustakim
 4th Best Pair – Burn and Rodi
 
5th Best Pair –. Hashim and Hadi.

It was a good gathering with lots of  laughter and a bit of rib-rubbing. All in good spirit.
We soon made our way back home. Very exhausted, contented yet feeling pleasant. Gone were the shanked-shots, balls in the ponds and the missed putts. It was a good outing amongst our Band-of-Brothers.
The Chairman of the Organising Committee wrote:
‘The golfers enjoyed their golf and gathering today at Amverton Cove. Thank you to the Golf Convenor who made this event materialise. The subsequent activities to continue celebrating our Golden Jubilee will be discussed in early Mar. A warning order should be out soon. Meanwhile keep yourself fit, busy, cool and cheerful. Have a fruitful days ahead’.And the President said:
‘Great little reunion of golf yesterday. Plenty of fun as usual. Good golf, GOOD LUNCH. Tq RH, HY and Apai and also to the rest. Kipidap’.
