Even then such contribution should not discourage our other brothers from  tossing into the ‘Hat’.

Commemorative Publications for the 50th Anniversary. A book will be published to commemorate our Golden Jubilee. JohnH was tasked to coordinate the publication with assistance from Burn, Apai, JohnRH, KD Richard and Jayanderan. Other contributions and participation would be most welcomed.

GOLF GAME AT NILAI SPRING GOLF RESORT ON 16 MAY 2018

We had our scheduled golf competition on 28 Feb 2019 at the Amverton Cove Golf & Island Resort. The coverage was posted in our blog on 1st March 2018. By chance we won 3 complimentary flights during the RAFOC Annual Golf Championship on 27 March 2018 at Nilai Springs Golf Resort. It was decided to utilise this ‘gift’ by organising a golf game pre-Ramadhan. It was on 16 May. There were 12 of us who responded.
Three flights including Johnny Loo and KLGoh. Its always difficult to track them both. Sometimes in Hong Kong, sometimes in Singapore and at times right in front of our doorsteps in KL And so the two joined us. Good feelings all round.

The Convenor JohnRH had already circulated the flight list earlier. Three flights in all. We teed off at the Mango Nine at about 0830 hrs.The weather was fine. Soon it turned to being warm with intermittent drizzle. All seasons were there that day. Being a Tuesday, a weekday it was clear all the way without much delay from other players. We concluded at about 1330 hrs through the Island Nine. Had a quick bath, then proceeded to the Restoran Ikan Bakar Batang Kapeh nearby. It was a typical Negori restaurant. And we enjoyed the spread on offer. For sure lots of ikan bakar with the sauces. And air kelapa to fully tucked in the food.

Prize-giving followed with the  Convenor handing out the prizes to the winners.

As per our convention, the top 2 winners will receive the champion and the runner up pool, whilst the other 3 will be a combination of drawn numbers from top 4 and the next bottom 4. And as per normal as if - packaged, MIA and MIH secured the top 2 and the rest also granted token sums to cover for the tolls. Good feelings that we met, promising to do it again after Raya. The pasting month started on 17 May. We played on 16th. So it was JIT.
Till we meet again have a good Ramadhan to all the Muslim Brethrens and be Good.
Regards.

CLUB 12/68 BARBEQUE NIGHT ON 25 APRIL 2018 AT THE POOLSIDE WISMA PERWIRA ANGKATAN TENTERA MALAYSIA

As part of our 50th anniversary celebration we organised a Barbeque Night. It was the fourth of our year-long itinerary to  commemorate the anniversary. This after Lunch in January, Golf in February, a Tahlil in March and now the BBQ in April.
Many hours were spent to put up a credible ocassion. This time we decided to invite our seniors and juniors. Intake 11 and 13. Ten Seniors and five juniors were invited. .Invitation cards were sent.
Besides that we were coaxing our own group to participate in this auspicious occasion.
In all there were 71 attendees of 49 fron Regular 12, 18 from Regular 11 and 4 from Regular  13.
The night was set for the occasion with banners, buntings, lights and a set up at the side of the pool. Our guests arrived at about 1900 hrs.
There were lots of oohs and aahs, huggings and kisses amongst us. Most were eyeing each other for recognition.

What to expect after 50 long years. All were sporting grey hairdos, a bit of a pouch, a bit of a limp and a bit of  reduced eyesights and hearings. Most recognised each other but for Chaoudhry and Hamzah Bachek, it seemed they have not met. It took some doing to eventually accept that they have met.before..
And the ladies were just fabulous. Looking prim and proper. They blended well with others, though some just met and others were able to rekindle the long years of bond they had together.
We had our pre-dnner drinks in the foyer. Soon we moved out to the function area. We were serenaded by the Roses and Dollar with a rendition of the Queens’ ‘We are the Champions’.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSTivVclQQ0

This, to recall the day in 2011 when we became champions of RAFOC’s Annual Golf Championship.
Our Imam Hj Hamdan Mohd Salleh, recited the Doa, followed by the president giving a speech.

He welcomed all and further hoped that all would enjoy the night. Special mention was on the guests from Intake 11 and Intake 13.
He. mentioned of being proud of Regular Intake 12 which comes from a mixed bag of young men ready to serve the nation and that this intake had the pleasure of being guided by the Regular Intake 11 and had the pleasure of seeing through Regular Intake 13.

We proceeded for the barbeque with roast lamb, soup and. buns, mee mamak and salads, There were sweets, coffee and the teh tarik to conclude the luxurious spread

There was a montage –

a video display of our life from 1968 till 2018. Scenes like the famous 135 steps to climb to get to the main block, the parade square, the accommodation block and the gym. There were scenes of weapons training, swimming at the MINDEF Swimming Pool, some physical slog in the training areas and the parades. Including our Commissioning Parade. Some personalities were shown including our instructors, Encik Kudus, Encik Ng  Char Bo and Encik Md Said. And our Philip the Cantin Caterer. It was a good reminiscent of our life in RMC and beyond  The montage was ably produced by KD Richard
Songs were sung. Dunia ku by our President,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2ImxRJrLec

Neelofa by Puan Sri Rozi and Yusof sang one.of the Broery numbers. Billy Gooi also came up on stage and gave a number.. In all we were able show off our singing ability. This eclipsed our infant attempt to our seniors 50 years ago.

The night soon came to an end with us rendering ‘Auld Lang Syne’ our club’s anthem for every end of an event. There were lots of hugs and pecking as all depart for home.

Till we meet for the next itinerary of our 50th Anniversary – Adios Amigos.
