CLUB 12/68 GATHERING AT BANGSAR SHOPPING CENTRE ON 24 DECEMBER 2014

Tapping from the conversation from the Club’s Whatsapp, Goh Kue Lim intended to be back in KL. This was the excuse needed to gather some of the Club members to meet. The venue was difficult to decide. Finally Bangsar Shopping Centre was picked. It was to be at 1500 hrs on 24 Dec 2014 at the La Bodega.
There were 10 of us. Lots of news were exchanged. There was an update by Goh KL on his whereabouts. News of Johnny Loo as well as Lee Ngau Chai were also disclosed.

The specialty at La Bodega was Tapaz. Calamari, Prawns in olive oil, egg plant, mushroom, skewered chicken and all taken with lots of bread. Continuous flow of drinks too. And GohKL footed the bill.
In between we were able to improvise a birthday cake of sorts to celebrate Burn’s birthday. No candles. Just Yusof K’s cigarette lighter replacing it. We sang a ‘Happy Birthday’ song to Burn.

And he blew the ‘Candle’. Many Happy Returns of the Day Burn. May you enjoy the 65th birthday and may there be more birthdays to celebrate.
We departed at about 1730 hrs and braved the Klang Valley jams. It was a nice meeting and hoping to have a repeat. We assured GohKL that he will always be welcomed in Malaysia. And this together with his credit cards.

BREAKFAST AT THE KLGCC ON 02 OCTOBER 2014

 
It just so happened that Rodi was around in Shah Alam. So Mat Pin decided to invite him for breakfast. And being a member of KLGCC where else but, there, would be a suitable venue. And there were a few others included namely Hadi Razak , Hashim Yahaya, Mohd Isa Hassan and yours truly.  In between Raden Hamzah of SetiakawanGolf dropped in to say ‘hello’.

At about 1030 we finally met at the Golfers’ Terrace and ordered our preferred morning meal. Roti canai was the order of the day with an  added- on nasi lemak bungkus. A nice and tasty meal indeed.  The host was gracious enough to offer more if need be.
Discussions? Not much except to stress the upcoming Kuoming Visit in 2015. It was an exciting discussion with golf being the main topic. We deviated a bit to include a ‘Chiengmai’ Recce. Isa Hassan seemed to be the ‘Convenor’ for that adventure. And of course there was this flurry and passionate description of Chiengmai. I guess he would be following up for more kakis. AND ITS STAG.
Some pics were taken as shown. It was in a way a nostalgic get-together and our thanks to Mat Pin for the iniative and for footing the ‘damage’.

GOLFING AND THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF CLUB 12/68 ON 23 SEPTEMBER 2014

 

Initially it was supposed to be a golf game amongst friends. Words spread and the grouping expended to include others and an Executive Meeting was summoned by the Chairman of Kunming 2015.
Golf was played at Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam (KGPA)

whilst lunch and the meeting was held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC).

Extract of the record of the meeting as recorded is as below:
1. At the Executive Committee Meeting on Sep 23, 2014 at KLGCC chaired by The Orgas Chairman for the Club 12/68 : REUNION 2015 many various issues have been resolved as well as noted.
        a. By a rough head counts to date 47 particpants can be expected to participate, the breakdown of     whom  Members & Spouses. ( 38 ) ; Atts & Dets made up of members Children, Grands, In laws  & outlaws ( 9 ).  However another 6  members & spouses whose participation is probable would   make a possible total of 53.   
     b.  See Attachment for Details. Request fill in the columns that have not been filled with proper  names , Passports and MyKad Numbers.
     c.   The President has kindly agreed to provide an  amount of RM $20K to date to subsidise a  small percentage of the cost ONLY for members and spouses.   Thus when the full list is finalised the quantum that each member or spouse has to pay for the REUNION 2015 - KUNMING CHINA TOUR would be calculated and members would be informed .
     d.   The full QUANTUM for the TOUR PACKAGE is RM $2,500.00 for the atts and dets. The amount could be paid in FIVE (5) installments commencing Dec 2014, thus
      e.   The confirmation to participate is requested  to be made by Sep 30, 2014 in order to enjoy cheaper promotional air & tour rate.

JALAN JALAN KE JAKARTA 01-04 SEPTEMBER 2014

 
Mengikut cerita seramai 8 orang members Club 12/68 termasuk saorang jemputan telah ke Jakarta pada 01 hingga 04Sep 2014.

Tujuan ialah untuk menikmati permainan golf disana. Permainan diadakan di Bogor Raya GC, Royal Jakarta GC dan Cengkareng GC. Tak pasti lak siapa menang, tapi melihatkan keceriaan di muka, memang lah seronok.

CLUB REUNION IN BALI FROM 2ND TILL 7TH JUNE 2014

Members of Club 12/68 or members of RMC Intake 12 had their annual reunion in Bali from 2nd till the 7th of June.

 In all 34 took part. They comprise of 14 members, 10 spouses, 4 children, 3 cucus and 3 friends.

 


 

 

 

It was an emotional reunion, reminiscing the good old days, exchanging the latest of each and everyone, bemoaning the friends we lost and promising to stick together as brothers forever.

LUNCH AT HASHIM YAHAYA’S HOUSE

Prior to the RAFOC’s Annual Golf Competition, our intake, like other intakes as well were planning to put up at least a team for it. We have put up at least 2 teams since 2009. We became champs in 2011. We intend to do well this time round. A practise session was decided.  At the Seremban International Golf Club on 01 May 2014. The Convenor Hashim Yahaya decided the venue.  Hussain Dos of SetiakawanGolf and Lt Kol Hashim were invited along for the second flight. And further extended an invitation for lunch at his house in Paroi Jaya.

Besides the players, other members of the squad  with families were invited as well.

Halijah, the Queen of the House, prepared a sumptuous spread.  As the Presidente commented, ‘The dishes prepared were mouth-watering. Jah’s photos and the ladies in the kitchen must be the headline. Lets do justice to the Ladies.’

 The guests really enjoyed the meal.

EVENTS CONCERNING CLUB 12/68

Two events that occurred recently concern our club. The first was the RAFOC Annual Golf.
The RAFOC Annual Golf Championship was held in Bangi Golf Resort on 6th May 2014. Our club took part with only one team for the Inter Intake Championship. The team comprised of Ismail Ahmad, Marzuki Andong, Musa Mustakim and Hashim Yahaya.

 

The best 3 players  scored 110 points. And came in Runners Up. Losing to Intake 18 by one point. We won this championship once in 2011.

It was a good outing to continue the spirit of camaderie and competitiveness as an intake.
The 46th Anniversary Gatherings. Somebody realised the intake’s 46th Anniversary falls on 08 May 2014. So someone suggested a gathering. It was agreed to have an Anniversary Breakfast on Sunday 11th May at the Diva Restaurant in Setiawangsa. Nine of us turned up.

 

Our former instructor, Encik Ibrahim also turned up.

 It was a round of  reminiscing old times. We updated each other of our conditions and situations, querying about those who were not there.

Enjoying the roti canai, ubi kayu,and  keledek rebus and drinking the beverage – mostly with no sugar.
Yes we were there. Hopefully there would be a lot more for our 47th Anniversary.
