CLUB 12/68 ANNUAL REUNION IN BANGKOK 23 – 27 SEPTEMBER 2017

DAY 4 – 26th September 2017.
GOLF
The Day 4 programme pro.mised to be more exciting. Golf for the golfers and shopping tours for the rest. For golf its to be a game at the Panya Indra Golf Club.
A well manicured golf course with many rolling hills and ponds. It’s a 27 hole course. Looking through the Review, suggested a course all golfers should try such as ‘ Greens are well kept’, Very nice view and nice place for golf lovers’, and ‘Great golf course with wonderful scenery’
Our Golf Convenor John Ramli Harun was busy organising to ensure a well-spent day. We were divided into 3 flights of 5 golfers. A ‘jumbo’ flights. After the rituals of the locker rooms, including dumping the excesses, we made our way to the buggies where the assigned caddies would have secured our bags.

This is the fun part – of who gets the nice –looking-caddies. Nothing much here though as they would be with us for the next 5 hours, so it would be comforting to have a pretty ones next to us. Indonesia is known for its nice-looking caddies. So is Thailand. There were a lot of rib-rubbing amongst us as there were instances when we got the silvered-haired caddies. Meaning above 50 years or senior citizens. Even then, what is more important is that they would be able to perform as caddies including advice us on choice of clubs, direction to place the balls, suggest lines of balls to the holes and look after our clubs.

We were attired in our orange shirts. R17 BANGKOK on the left sleeve, our names on the right sleeve, The PANYA Golf Club logo on the right chest and our Club logo on the left chest – emblazoned with pride.
Our designers’ caps on our crowns.
Impressive. We lined up for a group photgraphs.
There were group photographs by flights as well as individual shots on their tee-off shots.

Prior to this we have agreed on a wager of RM 50 each as incentives. We proceeded by ‘flights’ through the first nine. After a stop at the halfway-hut, we proceed to the next nine.
It’s a beautiful course. Well- kept and well- manicured. The ‘greens’ were slow. So I thought. It’s a long course with ponds located at critical areas ever ready to guzzle our balls.

I’m sure all of us would have brought along lots of balls to ensure a hassle-free game. It’s a pleasant feeling of going through a beautiful landscape of undulating grassland, away from the ‘madding’ crowd and enjoying the company of friends.

We ended the game at about 1330. Had our bath, dressed up and proceeded to our destination. For lunch.

And the tab was picked up by our Golf Convenor John Ramli Harun. Thanks John.
That night was our Grand Dinner
Regards
