STOP PRESS

This just came in the Wire.
Six members of  Club 12/68 entered for a golf tournament organized by SetiakawanGolf. It was for the
SetiakawanGolf President’s Trophy. It was held on Wednesday 30 Dec 09 at the Port Dickson Golf & Country Club.

The six squad members who joined were:
a.    Isa Hassan.
b.    Khalid Saad.
c.    Rahman Jabir.
d.    Hashim Yahaya.
e.    John Ramli Harun and
f.    John Hamzah Hassan
Good representation huh?
And better news. Of the six, 4 won prizes. Of the four, 3 won part of the competition prizes and of the three one won the Championship. And the winner of the President’s Trophy went to Rahman Jabir. Playing to a handicap of 22 he had a net 66, 6 under. Wow. He beat 59 other golfers.

The results for the other squads were:
a.    Isa Hassan – Fifth for the A Medal with a net 71 (handicap 14).
b.    Khalid Saad – First for the B Medal with a net 69 (handicap 20).
c.    Hashim Yahaya – Nearest to Line. (handicap 22)
Our junior Amiruddin Aladad also won Fourth position in the A Medal. Playing to a handicap of 12 he had a net 70.

His gross was thus 82. One of us had a net 81 and I had a net 79. This is ‘teruk case’.
The two with a naught were the two Johns, John Ramli and John Hamzah. For both of us in Malay we ‘Menang Sorak’. We cheered for our Squadmates. Four out of 6 is 66.6666% success. Not bad for Club 12/68 to end 2009.
During the Prize Presentation, Setiakawan’s President’s wife, Datin Fatimah Huri was given the honour to give away the inaugural trophy. Rahman like a true gentleman invited Rohaya along. Other than the trophy he won the cash prize of RM ????.It was in an envelope. Rohaya received (maybe grabbed or took would be more appropriate) the envelope and Rahman the trophy. One the ‘cash’ the other the ‘kind’. This in relation to being ‘in cash or in kind’.
Well done Rahman. A good momento to end the Year. May there be more to come in 2010. For Rohaya, enjoy the ‘Cash’.

Club 12/68 Forever.

  1. Congrats to Rahman Jabir. Report from his flt mates, in particular Lt Jen Dato Nawi Alias TUDM, the way he was playing, Rahman could not be a 22 hanicapper....T off jauh, chipping perfect, putting lagi hebat. Dont worry about that comment Rahman. We are proud of you. well done.By the way...how much was your prize money. Misti banyak punya.

Hashim Yahaya was in my flt. Before T off his spirit was very high. He played a dry run the day before and did exceptionally well...nett 73. But sadly to say, he was not able to keep the momentum. Nevertheless, he did win something, ie NTL and got rm30 for it.

As for me...macam biasalah..the word "IF" kept on coming out of my mouth. IF I didnt double par the par 5 12th hole, I could have been the champ. Sour grape. Dapat jadi champ B Medal pun jadilah.

Just to share a little secret with you guys. John Hamzah didnt play the dry run but spent the afternun before the tournament on the driving range. Kira2 sahabat kita ni ada menanam hasrat nak jadi johan. Good effort John

  2. congrats to our 6 musketeers for uplifting intake 12/68's wounded pride after the unfortunate experience of the recent RAFOR competition. it was a great feat considering that the setiakawan golf group has, among its members, the largest concentration of ABCDs (alligators, buayas, crocodiles and dragons)that have retired from the ATM!!! (yang terasa itu steadily lah ... jangan sensitif sangat ye ... aku gurau jer).

having said that, as i have mentioned to our golf convenor, John H squared, i am not at all surprised by the performance 'par excellence' of squad rahman jambu. his great golfing skills somehow does not seem to be reflected in his handicap which has remained at 22 since i first played golf with him some 10 years ago. i sure could learn some golf skills from books and fellow golfers but from my readings of golf literature i just cant seem to be able to find any on how to maintain your golf handicap .. could you share your secret squad RJ????

You still deserve the championship trophy and i congratulate you again for your fine performance ... and i double the congrats to Rohaya for winning the cash prize!!!!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR mates !!!!!!!!!!

Aku kena buat lporan dalam blog ini pasal komen yg aku post dlam blog setiakawangolf tak keluar...katanye subject to approval. Tolong chek sikit sqd.

Aku nak amik kesempatan bagi semangat sikit kpd 3 sahabat kita yg tak bernasib baik dlm PRESTRO namely John Hamzah, John Ramli and Hashim Yahaya. I have played with the 3 of you many times. Believe me my friends, all of you are good golfers. But I just could not point out what is actually wrong with your game. Nak kata tak consitant, Tiger woods pun kekadang meragam jugak. Yg pasti you know what is not right and my suggestion is work on it. Ingat tak aku merana selama 8 bulan sebab "shank" punyal hal. Tapi aku dapat atasi masalah itu sikit demi sekit. Sekarang dah tak shank lagi. Kira2 you kena tabah dan kerja keras. Itu tip aku.

The Annual Grand Slam is around the corner...who knows you can be the champion
